Sarah Elise Walker is a photographer and visual artist based in Orlando, FL and Savannah, GA.
She is greatly inspired by places that feel familiar, even upon first visit. Constantly in search of moments worth losing, Sarah makes work as an act of self discovery; to remind herself that there is always more than she knows.
Sarah sees every photograph as a unique and unrepeatable encounter between time, space, and perspective. Her practice investigates how images preserve not only what was seen, but also the emotional and philosophical weight of knowing that every captured moment has already passed. She is interested in the limitations of photography and the ways those limitations shape meaning. A photograph can never represent reality in its entirety; it is always selective, filtered through the perspective of the artist and constrained by the frame. In this incompleteness, photography derives its power. By isolating a single moment, the image directs attention toward what might otherwise go unnoticed, asking viewers to consider what is valued, remembered, and left behind.
Currently, Sarah is currently a Fine Art Photography, Museum Studies, & Art History B.F.A. student at the Savannah College of Art and Design. When she is not behind the camera (or in the darkroom), you’ll likely find her reading about art theory, working at a museum and/or drinking an iced vanilla latte.
